A 23-year old man Shadrach Goyiriola has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly stealing power bank charger worth N4,500.
He has been remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, Lagos Nigeria on the order of the court.
The incident happened at Justrite Super Store at Jakande Estate, Oke Afa, Ejigbo, Lagos where Goyiriola went and pretended to be buying items.
He was caught on camera as he picked the power bank and hid it in his private.
Unknown to the suspect, the management of the store mounted Close Circuit Television, CCT camera in the store to monitor activities.
When he was about to leave the premises without buying anything, he was accosted by the security who searched and found the item on him.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered he attempted to deny initially but when he was shown the CCT camera recording while hiding the item, he reportedly started pleading and offered to pay for the item.
By then it was already too late as the management handed him over to the police at Ejigbo division who charged before the court with stealing under the Criminal Code.
At the Ejigbo Magistrate’s court where Goyiriola was arraigned, pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr A.A. Fashola granted him bail in the sum of N10,000 with one surety in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 23 January 2017.
