A 28-year man, Oliver Mbam has landed in trouble after he allegedly brought his brother’s 13-year old boy, Jude Mbam and turned him into a street hawker in Lagos.

The incident happened at Illo Street in Ikeja where the police apprehended the victim when he was hawking goods.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the suspect brought Jude to Lagos with a promise that he will send him to school before the parents consented. However, it was not to be as Oliver had another motive in mind for bringing the boy to Lagos.

It was gathered that when Jude arrived Lagos, Oliver ensured he disconnected him from her parents and forced him into hawking on the streets. Jude ran into trouble while hawking as he was arrested by the task force who wanted to know why he was hawking school hours.

The little boy narrated his ordeal  and how his parents were convinced for him to come to Lagos and be enrolled in school but he ended up as a hawker.

Oliver was arrested and charged before a Lagos court for exploitative labour.
He pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O.Osunsanmi granted Oliver bail in the sum of N50.000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect the bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 5 January, 2018
