Man Sent To Prison For Defiling Neighbour’s Daughter, 10

A man, Bukar Ismail, has landed in trouble in Oyo State having been arrested and charged for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 10-year old girl.
P.M.EXRESS reports that the incident happened at Tose, Moniya area of Ibadan, Oyo State, where they reside.
However, the Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor asking the Court to give a date and refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
Thus, the Presiding Judge, Justice Serifat Adesina, declined the defendant’s plea and directed that the defendant be remanded, pending legal advice from the State Directorate of Public Ptosecution.
The defendant was arraigned on one count charge of defilement and was ordered by the Court to be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Centre in Ibadan.
The offence was said to contravene Section 34 of the Oyo State Child Rights Law 2016.
The prosecutor, Gbemisola Adedeji, told the Court that the defendant forcefully had carnal knowledge of his neighbour’s 10-year old daughter and the alleged offence was said to have been committed in 2023.
The matter was adjourned till 14th October, 2024, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the Court will commence the trial or not over jurisdiction.
