Police operatives in Lagos have arrested a man, Isiaka Aboyemi, for allegedly smashing a one-year old baby girl during a public fight with the mother and the baby died on the spot.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Berger area of Lagos.

The Police did not state if the suspect, Isiaka and the mother of the baby had any relationship before the incident happened.

People wondered what would have led Isiaka to commit such dastardly act by smashing the head of the little baby on the ground and she died. Some said it might be a quarrel between him and the mother of the baby over the paternity of the baby. But our correspondent was unable to verify as the Police said that the matter was under investigation to unravel the mystery behind such act.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, confirmed the incident and said that Isiaka Aboyemi was in Police custody over the murder of the little girl.
He stated that on 26th October, 2019, at about 1850 hours, one Alhaji Garuba Isiaka ‘m’ of  No. 7 Ayo Ijaiye Street, reported at the Police Station that on the same date at about 1800hrs, while at Berger he received a phone call from his younger brother, Alhaji Mohammad Isiaka, that one Isiaka Ayobami ‘m’ of No. 2 Ayo Ijaiye Street, Isheri, forcefully seized his daughter named Nana Aishat Isiaka ‘f’ 1-year old, from the mother and hit her on the ground.
“The Baby’s head was shattered and she died on the spot.”

Elkana stated that the suspect was almost lynched by angry mob from the area, who saw what happened, if not for the timely intervention of the Police. He said that the suspect will be charged to Court for murder after the conclusion of the investigation over the act.
