A 32-year old man, Okuade Femi, has been arrested for allegedly using a broken cup to inflict injury on his rival’s eye and permanently damaging the eye in a hotel in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Twist Hotel located at Budland Street, Ojodu area of Lagos, where they met and had a disagreement over an undisclosed matter.
The Police stated the victim, Oluwaseun Ojo’s eye was badly damaged to the extent the doctors confirmed he had to live tbe rest of his life with one eye.The real cause of the fight between them was not disclosed by the Police, who brought the suspect before the Court.
It was gathered that the duo had a disagreement and in the process, Femi rained blows on Ojo, then broke a cup and stabbed him on the eye. He was said to have bled profusely before he was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
The matter was reported to the Police and Femi was arrested. Having been found culpable, he was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for assault.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Kenrich, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, O.E.Areola, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum while ordering the defendant to be remanded in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
The matter was adjourned till 14th December, 2021, for mention.
