A 25-year old Taofeek Ojedeyi has landed in trouble after he stole live fowls to mark the Easter celebration in Lagos.
The incident happened at Kuta Street in Egan area of Igando in the outskirts of Lagos where he resided.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that apart from stealing seven live fowls, the suspect also stole two generator sets, a shirt and a plastic bucket belonging to one Adebayo Afolabi who was his close neighbour.
According to the residents, few days before the Easter celebrations, Ojedeyi was heard complaining that he was broke and had no money to celebrate the season. Subsequently, in the night of 30th March, 2018, around 2am he woke up and stole the items.
However, as he was escaping one of their neighbours saw him and raised alarm which woke up other neighbours. He was apprehended and handed over to the police at Igando Division. He confessed before the police, the items he stole were recovered from him as exhibits and kept at the police station.
Ojedeyi was later charged before Ejigbo Magistrates court for stealing.
He pleaded guilty and asked the court for leniency.
The prosecutor, Mr. G. Simon urged the court for short adjournment to enable him to present the facts before the court for sentence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J. Layeni granted the prosecutor’s prayer and ordered the suspect to be remanded in prison custody.
The matter was adjourned till 25 April, 2018, for facts and sentence.
