Man Strangles Housewife Over Failed Rape, Throws Corpse Inside Well

Police operatives from the Benue State Command have arrested one Benjamin Terungwa Agura, who allegedly strangled a housewife, Mrs. Ruth Mbachilin,  dumped her corpse inside an abandoned well and escaped.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 6th April, 2021, near Uchi Mbakor in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State.

The suspect, who is cooling his head in Police custody, reportedly invited the deceased under the pretense of selling yam to her and took her to his compound in Uchi Mbakor, where he attempted to rape her. She reportedly resisted and the suspect allegedly killed her, robbed her of N70,000 and then threw her corpse inside a well to cover up.

However, Police operatives arrested Terungwa and after days of interrogation he confessed to the murder and on Friday, April 16, led the police to the well, where the corpse was exhumed.

During interrogation, he admitted that he murdered her some 20km into the bush from Uchi Mbakor in Tarka LGA, Benue State.

After strangling and robbing her of N70, 000, he tied her two legs with her wrapper and dumped her body in an abandoned well in his deserted compound. He then filled the well with garbage in order to cover up the dastardly act. 

But all that failed after he was caught up at the Makurdi Police Headquarters; he confessed that he had murdered the lady and buried her in a well. 
He led the Police to the well, which was dug up for the body to be exhumed. The body had decomposed almost beyond recognition save for the wrapper, which her husband recognized..

According to Police sources, he will be charged before the Court for murder, which attracts life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty for the alleged offence after the conclusion of investigation.
