MICHAEL AKINOLA
The Presidential and National Assembly Election may have come and gone but the memory will linger in the mind of the Chairperson of the Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area in Alimosho Local Government area of Lagos, Princess Olabisi Adebajo.
Mrs. Adebajo, popularly known Abisco, is now counting her losses after she was swindled by one of her aides, Akinola David Adebajo, to the tune of N4m preparatory to the election.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the GTBank branch in Alimosho area of Lagos where Hon. Adebajo went to withdraw the money and handed it over to Akinola.
Unknown to the LG boss, Akinola had another motive as he was said to have absconded with the money and every efforts to trace him proved abortive.
However, the matter was reported to the police who trailed the suspect and eventually arrested him.
Both the suspect and the LG boss, Princess Adebajo, were said to be reluctant to disclose what the money was meant for. Some said it was meant to induce the electorate during the election which was yet to be verified.
During interrogation, the suspect was said to have admitted collecting the money from the LG boss but told the police to ask Princess Adebajo what the money was meant for which she did not disclose.
The police found Akinola culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for stealing.
The prosecutor, Mr. Peter Nwaogwu, alleged that the defendant stole the money at GTBank which belonged to Mrs. Adebajo.
He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail.
However, the presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Y.O. Aje-Afunwa, ordered Akinola to be remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
When P.M.EXPRESS correspondent contacted Hon. Adebajo, she declined to comment; she cut the phone call and so could not state her own side of the story.
