A 36-year old man, Henry Egesi has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly tricking and engaging his neighbour’s 19-year old teenager and had  carnal knowledge of her.
The incident happened at Babatunde street, Unity Estate in Shasha area of Lagos where both the suspect and the victim’s parents reside.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect is now facing trial on the allegation of sexual assault on the victim who claimed that she was shocked on how the suspect tricked her to his apartment where he confused her and penetrated her.
According to Police, the suspect reportedly lured the victim to his apartment and had carnal knowledge of her through penetration without her consent.
However, Egesi told P.M.EXPRESS that the issue was a consensual affair as he talked to the girl normally as men would talk to women and she agreed.
But he was surprised as she later turned round to claim it was not with her consent.
He said that he had pleaded with the family and was willing to settle and compensate the victim, but her parents refused.
But the victim insisted that the suspect confused him when he lured him into his apartment and sexually molested her.
Thus, she informed her parents what happened and the matter was reported to the Police at Shasha Division who arrested Egesi and detained him at the Station.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the angry parents insisted that the police should charge the matter to court for justice and the suspect was charged accordingly.
Egesi was charged before the Ogba Magistrates court with sexual assault on the victim under the Criminal Code.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr T.O. Shomade granted him bail in the sum N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The defendant was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
