Organisers of Ahmedida Cup say they are planning big for the final of the competition scheduled to hold Thursday at Pako football pitch, Iyana-Ipaja, Alimosho.
Manchester United team would face Real Madrid in the final. Chairman Organising Committee, Ahmed Idowu told journalists in Lagos that they have reached out to politicians, philanthropists and football stakeholders and they have promised to assist to make the closing ceremony a memorable one.
“We have reached out for assistance and we have received both cash and gifts from our sponsors. I am happy that all our invited guests have promised to witness the closing ceremony. We want to assure all the finalists that their prize monies and other gift items are available.
“We are planning big for the final because we want this year’s edition to be better off than the previous editions. I wish the finalists all the best as they are preparing for the final. We want to use this medium to urge fans to shun violence during the game,” he said.
Idowu said organizing a football competition is to contribute his own quota to football development in Lagos State.
One of the sponsors,Benjamin Chukwumeze, the General manager of De-Dems park Limited promised to pay the prize monies for both champions and first runners up. He said his company is committed to football development in Alimosho and urged other corporate bodies to emulate him.
