A 40-year old man, Omowale Afolabi Julius, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly conspiring and stealing N13m Toyota Camry car belonging to Mrs. Ajadi Abisoye Aliu.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Bonam Fontunami Kusenla Road, Ikate, Lekki area of Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect had on 14th April, 2024, with others now at large conspired and stole the vehicle with registration number, AKD 30JH belonging to Mrs. Aliu and escaped. Apart from that, he was alleged to have stolen other spare parts including rear lights, brain box, clothes, shoes and perfumes worth about N4m.
However, the matter was reported to the Commissioner of Police Special Squad at Ikeja Lagos Command, who moved into action, eventually arrested Julius and detained him at the Command for interrogation.
After interrogation the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted him bail with sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
