A 43-year-old man, Joseph Ayodeji, has been arraigned and remanded in the Correctional Centre, for allegedly defiling his 12-year-old daughter in Ondo State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the man was charged before the Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court for the alleged defilement under the Criminal law of the State.
The presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Dolamu Babalogbon, did not take Ayodeji’s plea and directed that the case file be transferred to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
The prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, alleged that the defendant committed the offence on 2nd April, 2026, at Ipao-Ekiti in Ikole Local Government Area of the state.
He alleged that the defendant, who was living alone with his daughter, defiled her while she was preparing for school.
According to him, the girl’s teacher had noticed her countenance and asked what was wrong, and the minor eventually opened up to the teacher, revealing how her father defiled her.
The prosecutor alleged that the teacher consequently reported the case to the Police and the man was arrested.
He said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 31 of the Child Right Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The matter was adjourned till 14th May, 2026, for mention for the report of DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
