A 27-year-old manager, Kunle Adebiyi,
has been arraigned before an Ejigbo Magistrate Court in Lagos over allegations of stealing fuel sales proceeds while managing a filling station belonging to the complainant, Duro Akintola, in Ijegun.
According to Charge Sheet No. E/104/2026, the Commissioner of Police filed a two-count charge over an incident, which allegedly occurred in March 2026 at NNPC Toluwani Bus Stop, Ijegun-Ikotun Road, in the Lagos Magisterial District.
Count One alleged conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace by stealing sales money as the manager in charge of the filling station. The offence is said to be contrary to Section 168(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Count Two alleged conversion of N3,953,676.00 belonging to the owner of the station. The money was said to be proceeds realized from fuel sales by attendants, contrary to Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 287 covers stealing, while Section 168(d) relates to conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace under the Lagos law.
The matter was handled by officers from Isheri Oshun Divisional Headquarters. Court records showed the defendant appeared before Magistrate F.R. Ogunkoyede on June 9, 2026.
He pleaded not guilty to both counts when the charges were read to him in court.
The prosecutor, ASP Simeon Njue, asked the court for a hearing date to enable the Police to prove that the defendant committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, F.R. Ogunkoyede, granted him bail in the sum of N800,000 with conditions and ordered the defendant to produce two sureties in like sum.
The defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the perfection of his bail conditions.
The Lagos State Government has continued to warn business managers against financial misconduct and diversion of funds entrusted to them.
Under Nigerian law, every accused person is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent court after a fair trial.
