A 42-year old married man, Rasheed Ismail, who allegedly engaged his 14-year old house maid in sex romp repeatedly after drugging her over a period of six months, has been remanded in custody in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that this followed after the operatives from the Gender Section of the Police Command charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement, which attracts life imprisonment if found guilty.
However, the Court did not take his plea after the Prosecutor, Supol Kehinde Ajayi, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
Hence, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A. O. Ajibade, ordered his remand in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 12th April, 2021, for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available.
Ismail landed in trouble for allegedly molesting the girl not minding that he was living with his wife.He was arrested by the Police operatives from Ipaja Division and transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command, Lagos, over the alleged defilement of the maid.
The incident happened at Peace Estate, Baruwa area of Ipaja, Lagos, where the suspect, Rasheed Ismail, resides with his family and the victim.
The arrest was facilitated by the Department of School Social Work under the Ministry of Youth and Social Development led by Mrs.Sanusi Rashidat.
