Police operatives from Ikotun Division, Lagos, led by CSP Emmanuel Onah, have arrested a 45-year old man, Anthony Okpara, who allegedly lured a 5-year old girl into his room with biscuits and sexually molested her.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Powerline Street off Igando Road, Ikotun area of Lagos, where they reside.
A Police source said that the suspect, Okpara, reportedly lured the victim into his apartment with biscuits, removed her pant and inserted his finger into her before he eventually penetrated.
However, the act was revealed after the victim exposed what Okpara did to her and the matter was reported to the Police, who arrested him for investigation.
The victim was said to have been taken to Mirabel Centre, where the doctors confirmed that the victim was violated and abused.
He was later charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement which attracts several years imprisonment without an option of fine.
The prosecutor, Mr. Christopher John, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice because the victim was a minor.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E Nwaka, ordered Okpara to be remanded in prison custody and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
The defendant may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends that he should be tried for defilement.
The matter was adjourned till 21st October, 2019.
