A 46-year old married man, Oladimeji Rabiu, has landed in trouble after he allegedly secretly lured a 14-year old girl, engaged her in sex and was caugbt in the act in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Rabiu, has been arrested.
The incident happened at Edunaya Street, Ikorodu area of Lagos, where they resides.
He is now facing the charge of defilement, which attracts life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before Court of Law for the alleged offence.
The suspect was said to have lured the girl, got her confused and then engaged her in sex before they were caught in the process.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area and he was arrested. He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation.
During investigation, he reportedly admitted to have slept with her but claimed it was with her consent despite the fact he was married with children.
The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
The Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Mr. Victor Eruada, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice because the victim is still a minor despite consent as claimed by the defendant.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Daodu, ordered his remand in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, without an optiin of bail pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 18th January, 2022, for mention for the advice from the DPP to be ready, which will determine if matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
