A 49-year old married man, Michael Akintayo, will have to tell a Lagos Court what he was looking for after he was caught inserting his finger into his neighbour’s 13-year old girl’s private part.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the alleged indecent act happened at Ikejieme, Railway compound in Ebute Metta, Lagos, where they reside.
It was gathered that the defendant, Michael, reportedly intended to lure the victim into a sex romp and allegedly started by putting finger into her private part in order to seduce her.
However, the victim resisted and raised alarm which eventually alerted their neighbours. The matter was reported to the Police and Michael Akintayo was arrested and later transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged before the Ogba Magistrates court for sexual assault on the victim.
The Court remanded him in prison custody after the prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O Sule-Amzat, ordered him to be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail. The Court directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the defendant, Michael, may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends his trial for statutory rape. He may be handed several years imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty for the alleged offence.
