Police operatives from Ajao Estate Division of the Lagos State Command have arrested a masquerade, which attacked a lady at night with a dagger over suspicion that the lady may have jilted the man inside the mask.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that when the masquerade was unmasked and it turned out to be the lady’s 28-year old neighbour, Supiamu Abubakar, foul play was suspected.

The incident happened on 14th May, 2022, at Nelson Abido Street, Ajao Estate, Lagos, where both the suspect and the lady reside.

The motive behind the suspect, Abubakar’s action was not disclosed by the Police but the neighbours suspected that the lady in question may have jilted him and he decided to attack her at night disguised as masquerade.

The Police alleged that Abubakar attempted to murder the lady, Victoria Eyo, by stabbing her with a dagger while wearing mask and injuring her in the process after pushing her down during the attack.

During the attack, the suspect also damaged her phone and caused her serious pain before was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

The matter was reported to the Police and Abubakar was arrested. After interrogation and having been found culpable, he was subsequently charged before the Isolo Magistrates Court for the alleged attack.

When he was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Oje Uagbale, informed the Court that it was a case of armed robbery because he meted violence on the lady and told the Court that he will still amend the charges subsequently.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kasumu granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum and one of the sureties must be a community leader and must show evidence of means of livelihood.

The Court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for advice and adjourned the matter till 6th June, 2022, for the report of the DPP to be available.

However, the defendant was remanded in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
