May Buhari Fail In Politics And Get It Right In Governance

May President Muhammadu Buhari continue to get it wrong in politics so that he can continue to get it right in governance. Nothing slows down development like politics; we have played politics for 16 years without anything meaningful to show for it.

The man is so politically inexperience that he has diversified our economy from oil dependency to a robust agricultural reliance; the same way, he suppressed his political naivety by bringing to life our moribund railway sectors. Since the 80s, that our rail sector collapsed with no efforts to resuscitate it. The last time I rode on a train was in 1984 and it took a political greenhorn to make me ride again on a train in 2017. The people of Warri for the first time in their recent history woke up to the beautiful snake-like sight of a train. This was made possible by a man who is not interested in playing politics but governance.

For years, the 2nd Niger Bridge was a political chess game used to manipulate the South-East people. For every election year, successive governments danced the tune of deceit to hoodwink the people. When the man gifted with no stamina of playing politics came on board, he made possible what was an impossible feat. Today, the 2nd Niger Bridge is under the hammer of implementation!

The comatose aviation sector is coming back to life with the relaunch of a national carrier. This is not only unprecedented but a national pride to our sovereignty. The man defied political shenanigans and sustained real governance to make possible what was impracticable.

The elites are after him today because of his poor sense of political dexterity. He has denied them their political entitlements by cutting the pipelines of patronage. Until recently, oil rigs were owned not by the people of Niger Delta but powerful few elites who doubled as landlords of Nigeria. With a calculated political indecision, President Muhammadu Buhari severed their parasitic grips of our commonwealth by refusing to renew the oil licenses. The landlords gathered and issued fatwa on the reelection bid of Muhammadu Buhari. It takes only a man motivated by sincerity of purpose to dare with the furies of the Generals. For the good of Nigerians and good governance, he chose to challenge the monsters of Nigerian politics by doing the needful.

Again, may this man continue to fail in politics and continue to wax stronger in providing good governance.
