May Soludo Succeed!

DON EBUBEOGU

This is not a political slogan. It was a prayer; uttered across party lines, different religious faiths, at various town unions, and more importantly, in the minds of all, since the election that produced Charles Chukwuma Soludo as the Executive Governor of Anambra State.

May Soludo succeed; a sentiment that runs deep in the subconsciousness of Ndi Anambra.

On Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, the phrase was frequently used; may Soludo succeed.

Nobody politicized that. Nobody or a group took ownership of it. It became a pronouncement of a collective wish. The hope of Ndi Anambra; may Soludo succeed.

After his election, the major political parties refrained from going to court to dispute the election result. It was also the wish of the electorate that he should not be distracted.

If any politician should earn the acronym of the “golden boy”, it should be Soludo. He has been shown unconditional love. We all prayed; may Soludo succeed.

The refuse dumps came with a lot of challenges, the roads are bad, and social vices are scaling up daily. Yet, there is an unwritten understanding that they are not his own making and should be given time to succeed. Ndi Anambra is showing uncommon understanding. Day and night they keep praying; may Soludo succeed.

We played politics for the last 8 years. We cannot afford another 8 years of political shenanigans. And that may have prompted the resolve among Ndi Anambra to pray for the success of Soludo, irrespective of our differences.

The debt profile is big. The Federal allocation has dwindled. The IGR is not enough. Yet the expectations are huge and frightening.

We all want Soludo to succeed. His success will guarantee the success of Anambra, and for Anambra to succeed, its people must succeed.

Our compulsion to see Soludo succeed surpasses our fear to see him fail.

And if Soludo must succeed, we must put actions to our prayers and support the government through timely and correct payment of our levies and taxes.

When next we pray for the success of Soludo, we shall be doing that with the assurances that we are providing the needed financial pool to get the work done in line with James 2:17, which says, “Faith that doesn’t lead us to do good deeds is all alone and dead!”

May Soludo succeed 🙏
