The Mayegun of Ife, High Chief K.K Ogundele is dead. He died on Friday evening at his residence at Moore in Ile Ife at the age 96.
The revered traditional chief reportedly passed away peacefully after a fulfilled life dedicated to the service of the throne, the people of Ile-Ife, and the preservation of Yoruba cultural heritage.
High Chief Ogundele held the prestigious title of Mayegun of Ife, a position that earned him widespread respect within and beyond the ancient kingdom. Throughout his lifetime, he was known for his wisdom, commitment to community development, and unwavering loyalty to the Ooni’s Palace and the traditional institution.
His death marks the end of an era, as the nonagenarian remained one of the oldest and most respected traditional title holders in Ifeland.
High Chief K.K. Ogundele is survived by children, grandchildren and numerous relatives.
