The much-awaited final of U-16 boys and Girls Med- View Airlines Football Competition would hold May 1 at Campos Sports Centre, Lagos Island.
In the boys category, Fela Babes will face Super Soccer, while Bufalo Queens will take on Mary Queens in the final of the female category.
Match coordinator. Taofeek Ajibola said this year’s edition has recorded huge success considering the number of participants taking part in the championship sponsored by Chairman of Mid-View Airlines, Alhaji Muneer Bankole.
Ajibola said arrangement have been made to organize a colorful closing ceremony and urged the finalists to shun vices that can bring the championship into disrepute.
“We are organizing the final on Workers Day because we want football lovers to come out en masse and cheer our young footballers to victory. It is my great pleasure to inform the sponsor that this year’s edition is better organized in area of officiating and standard of play by the participants,” he said.
Ajibola, who revealed that this year’s edition witnessed more goals and players displayed their skills to the admiration of their fans, commended the participating teams for spirit of sportsmanship displayed throughout the group stage of the competition.
Meanwhile Sponsor of the competition, Alhaji Bankole said he is sponsoring the competition because of the passion he has for the round leather game, adding that he would use the competition to assist the talented players to find means of livelihood.
“Through this competition, we have awarded scholarships, rehabilitated schools and lifted many lives to something useful and we shall continue to assist the youth in this country to strive for excellence” he said.
