ADNAN MUKHTAR TUDUNWADA
In my first memo which I wrote to you ahead of your January scheduled but shelved visit to Kano which was widely shared, read and published by national dailies, I advised you on some critical issues not for any reason but as one of your fans and staunch supporter; a real supporter is one that says the truth even if it contradicts the thought of his leader.
Sir, I am one with so many supporting articles to your government and presidential ambition to my credit. You still command so much respect in my eyes, as a father, leader and founder of modern Kano state.
I am blunt in saying the truth; I speak the truth to power irrespective of threats or intimidation from the people in the corridors of power. This was the same reason I wrote my first memo to you, where I advised that you should suspend your presidential ambition to 2031. Even though power belongs to God, you have limited chance of becoming the President of this country looking at the present political situation.
Some of your staunch supporters across the country reasoned with my points; it sparked a debate on social media. While some were able to understand me, some failed to counter my points with facts and genuine analysis of past events.
Some have even described my articles as sponsored ones by the government of Kano state. Some are of the opinion that I am too small to advise the Senator.
Whatever, it was my opinion, as a writer, journalist and political commentator.
Sir, you are a national politician. I have said it many times that you command thousands of votes in Kano. Had it been President Buhari is bold enough in political calculation, he would do whatever he can to see you by his side; you will be an added advantage to his government and political strategy ahead of 2019 general elections.
The APC party structure is not under your control talk less of having your followers in it. The dream of every politician in taking the control of his party is to have maximum control of the party structure. The party in Kano is today led by a loyalist of Governor Ganduje.
The same thing goes to your ward, Kwankwaso in Madobi Local Government, where your arch political rival Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso was made a commissioner to work against you and your loyalists in order to also take full control of APC in the entire local government.
Your loyalists in party positions were replaced with the loyalist of the present governor, from national level, zonal level, state level, local level and ward level.
When I came with the idea of writing this memo, I was motivated by many of your supporters including your social media bigwigs; they follow me to a private chat complaining and lamenting about their faith in the politics of Kano.
Party primaries will be taking place in either late August or October but as at this moment you are yet to address them. Some have lost hope about the Kwankwasiyya movement and are now rushing to the camp of the governor.
During the recent APC national convention, you were absent as a stakeholder of the party, a former governor, minister and a serving senator.
I thought of seeing you and the new PDP members not boycotting the convention but to my surprise, I saw you absent. Even the leader of the new PDP members Abubakar Kawu Baraje was present at the convention, the President of the Senate, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Governor Tambuwal and many others too numerous to mention.
This has further put much discouragement on your followers. You were later seen visiting former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State.
Sir, with due respect, you have put thousands of your followers in dilemma; with no option, no direction and have further made them so much confused about their political future.
I write on behalf of your esteemed followers who pleaded with me to write on their behalf, by calling on you to address them as time is neither on your side nor their side.
Power belongs to God! I am not saying that you will not be President but your chances are limited.
