A mentally deranged man, Mr. Stephen Agboola got missing after a lady believed to be his mistress, Janet Babalola allegedly sent him away from his home and took possession of all his properties including the houses he built worth over N20m under false pretense in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Odekunle Street in Agege area of Lagos where Mr. Agboola owned a house before he became sick and was sent away by Janet.

It was gathered that Mr. Agboola who had a thriving business had an issue with his wife which led him to become mad in 2002. The 55-year Janet Babalola who saw his condition, offered to assist him as his mistress and take care of him until he regained his senses.

However, Janet was said to have had another mission than to take care of Agboola. She allegedly took over all his businesses and properties including his house located at 4, Joshua Oleowo Street in Ikotun area and started collecting the rent as the landlady of those properties. She was said to have also stolen all the house documents including the C of O, survey plan, purchase receipts of the properties and converted to her own.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that when Janet eventually retrieved all his properties including the documents of all his houses, she released Mr. Agboola to the streets as a mad person, he got missing for several years and since then had not been found. When the family regained their consciousness and went back to look for Agboola in his house, he was no longer there as their brother’s mistress had taken over all his properties and was enjoying the proceeds of Agboola’s efforts.

The matter was reported to the police, Janet was arrested and detained at the police station. During interrogation, Janet reportedly confessed that she did not know the whereabout of Agboola since he left the house some years back and cannot confirm if he was still alive or dead. She said that she hid his missing from his family because she did not know how to explain what happened, had been collecting the rent of his properties and using the money for those years.

The police found Janet culpable and charged her before Ogba Magistrates court for conspiracy and stealing.

She pleaded not guilty.

Hence the prosecutor, Mr. Raphael Dany asked the court to use its discretion if the court wanted to grant her bail.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Adedayo granted Janet bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum.
She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 7 May, 2018.
