P.M.EXPRESS correspondent reports that Kamalu was standing a two count charge bordering on conspiracy and child trafficking.
She was arrested recently by operatives of Imo Police Command for alleged child trafficking and conspiracy.
The Police prosecutor, M.C Eboh, said the suspect allegedly committed the offence, which he said contravened the law of the federation.
He opposed the bail application made by the suspect’s lawyer, arguing that Kamalu could jump bail if the application is granted. He argued that when the suspect was granted bail in an Owerri High Court where she was standing trial over acquisition of false property, she jumped bail and was rearrested in Abuja.
Delivering her ruling, the Presiding Magistrate, A.O Odioyenma, held that the suspect be remanded in prison and directed the Court registrar to transfer the file to Office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for report.
She said though bail is at the discretion of the Court, the matter before her was a serious offence and however adjourned to 16th January, 2020, for information of the DPP’s reports.
It will be recalled that the suspect is also standing trial at the Owerri High Court over alleged acquisition of property by false pretence.
P.M.EXPRESS recalled that Kamalu had also accused Mr. Kingsley Uju, member representing Ohaji/Egbema-Oguta-Oru West Federal Constituency of rape.
The allegation was investigated and described as falsehood by the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Rabiu Ladodo, while Uju described her as a serial fraudster.
