Mother, Son Sent To Prison For Allegedly Selling Building For N22m

Operatives of the Nigerian Police Zone 2 Command, Lagos have arrested a woman, Roseline Emeso Odior Adeku, 53, her Son, Greg Abemere Odior Adeku, 28, and dragged them before a  Lagos Magistrate’s Court for allegedly conniving to sell a three bedroom apartment located at 8, Faluyi Street, Lagos to Okoror Ehiaghe Godspower and Mrs Okoror Olubunmi Modupe for N22 million without the consent of the owner, Gilbert Odior Adeku.

Also arrested and charged with them over the alleged sale was one Rick Ugbo Azubuike, 58.

Police alleged that the 28 years-old Greg Adeku approached the Commissioner for Oaths at the Ikeja High Court, Lagos on 4 October, 2024 to deposed to an affidavit that the three-bedroom apartment located at 8, Faluyi Street, Ajuwon, Lagos belong to him and allegedly used the affidavit to sell the property to the complainants for N22 million knowing full well that he was not the owner of the building.

Police further alleged that trouble started for the defendants when the alleged buyer of the property and complainants went to the property to take over as the new owner, but they were shocked the owner of the property, Gilbert Odior Adeku told them that he did not sell the property to anyone and that the property was not for sale.

Following the development, the complainants petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police AIG incharge of Zone 2 Command, AIG Adegoke Fayoade who swiftly directed his men to arrest the defendants.

The defendants were charged before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court sitting at the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos Island on a five count charge bordering on forceful take over of a property, forgery and stealing.

Police prosecuting Counsel, ASP Ibrahim Haruna informed the court in the charged marked W/55/2024 that the defendants used a forged documents to sell a three bedroom apartment to the complainants for N22 million knowing full well that they were not the owner of the property.

He said the offences, the defendants committed were punishable under sections 411, (2)(3, 80,314,(1)(2)(3) and 287.

The defendants, however pleaded not guilty to the charges and Magistrate A.O Alogba granted them N500,000 bail each with two sureties each in like sum.
