A mother of three and landlady in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, has reportedly been raped to death by a commercial motorcyclist, who was said to be her tenant.
According to the Ekiti Police Public Relations Officer, Caleb Ikechukwu, who confirmed the incident, it occurred on Thursday at Olorunda area of the state and the Police were making effort to apprehend the suspect.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the woman, who was described by family members as middle aged, was alone at home after her husband had gone to work and the children were said to have gone for holiday lessons when the ugly incident happened.
The suspect, a commercial motorcyclist and tenant, was alleged to have broken into the landlady’s room, threatened her with a cutlass and tied her up before performing the dastardly act. It was also gathered that after the act, he reportedly fled the house but left behind some of his belongings which gave reasonable suspicion that he was responsible for the act.
According to one of the children of the deceased, “I saw the tenant on a motorcycle while on my way back from holiday lessons but never knew he had killed my mum at home”.
The deceased’s husband, her children, tenants and neighbours could not hold back tears seeing the lifeless body of the landlady.
The residents, who knew the suspect, wondered what could have pushed him to commit the dastardly act. They however, expressed optimism that the Police will apprehend the motorcyclist now at large.
