In view of the upcoming Local Government Elections scheduled for November 2, 2024, the Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, CP Gyogon Augustine Grimah, has ordered the restriction of movement across all 18 Local Government Areas of Cross River State.
This restriction will be in effect from 12:00 am midnight on November 2 until 6:00 pm the same day.
The restriction is to be implemented to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the electoral process, allowing citizens to exercise their voting rights peacefully. Only those on essential duties, such as medical personnel, accredited election observers and security personnel, will be permitted to move within restricted areas. All other movements within the state are prohibited during this period.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ugbo Irene, members of the public are urged to adhere strictly to this directive and avoid any actions that may disrupt the peace or compromise the success of the elections.
“The Police Command will work closely with sister security agencies to enforce this restriction and to ensure the safety of lives and property throughout the election period.”
“The Commissioner of Police appeals to all citizens to remain law-abiding and cooperate fully with the law enforcement agencies. He assures the public of the Command’s commitment to a peaceful and credible election process in Cross River State” SP Ugbo stated.
