MTN Nigeria Staff, 56, Remanded For Stealing Company’s Items Worth N150m

A 56-year old staff of MTN Nigeria, Mr. Oludipupo Adeyinka Oloyede, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly swindling the company by stealing their communications gadgets worth N150m. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the MTN company’s office located at Aromire Estate, Ikoyi area of Lagos.

 

According to the Police, the suspect had on 17th May, 2024, conspired and did steal Forty (40) pieces of S.F.D (Small Facton Pluggable) valued One hundred and fifty million (N150,000,000.00), property of MTN Nigeria represented by Uwaoma Kany.

 

However, the company later discovered that the items were missing and handed him over to the Police at the Commissioner of Police Special Squad at the State Police Command, Ikeja.

 

After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged conspiracy and stealing.

 

He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.

 

The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted him bail in the sum of N5m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned till 21st August, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.

 

Part of the charges read:

That you Oladipupo Adeyinka Oloyede ‘m’ and others at large, on the 17 day of May, 2024 at about 1400hrs, at Aromire Estate, Ikoyi Lagos, in the Lagos Magistirrial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: Stealing and thereby committed an offence Contrary to and Punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”

 

COUNT II: That you Oladipupo Adeyinka Oloyede ‘m’ and others still at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did steal Forty (40) pieces of S.F.D (Small Facton Pluggable) valued One hundred and fifty million (N150,000,000.00), property of MTN Nigeria represented by Uwaoma Kany ‘m’ and thereby committed an offence Contrary to Section 280 and Punishable under Section 287(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
