A young man in his mid thirties, Omoruyi Matthew Efosa has been on the run for his life after the dispute with his family members over an alleged property that the late father left behind.

It was gathered that Matthew, the first child of his father and the only child of his mother, though has other siblings, was attacked by an unknown gun men few days after the dispute. Sources said Matthew lost his daughter in the process of the attack and narrowly escaped death.

Troubles started for Matthew, who hails from Egor Local Government in Edo State, south-south Nigeria when he called a meeting with other members of the family to inform them that the 10 hectares of land left behind by their late father on km 25 Benin-Ore expressway be put into profitable use either by dividing the lands among the children or sell some portions of the land and proceeds share among the children.

Unknowingly to Mathew, two of the siblings had secretly sold a large portion of the land and pocketed the money without carrying along other children

In a desperate bid to ensure that Matthew’s moves that all children should have equal shares of whatever comes out of the land did not see the light of the day, unknown assailants attacked him in his house at 3 Osadolor Street off Benin – Sapele Road, Benin City in Edo State on the night of 2 October, 2019

“When the assailants gained entry into my compound, the shouted my name and commanded that I should come outside. They said that it was when I was alive that I would be able to supervise the sale of a landed property. It was then I knew that I was in big trouble. The shoot sporadically air before they left.

“My household was not lucky the next time the assailants came on Sunday, 6 October, 2019. Though I was not at home, my only daughter, 12 years old Cynthia was murdered in cold blood before the gunmen left on that fateful day.

“I reported the case at the police station. Though the police swung into action to investigate the incident, nothing has been done till I ran for my dear life when I discovered that it’s dangerous for me to stay around,” Mathew narrated the sad incident to P.M. EXPRESS in Lagos
