Talented midfielder, Raheem Moyinoluwa Salaudeen, a promising product of notable sports outfit, Buruj Football Club and Sports Academy in Lagos, has narrated his impressive journey from featuring for the Future Eagles to landing at the Golden Eaglets camp.

Raheem stated, “My journey with the national team began in 2023 when I got my first call-up to the Nigeria U-15 Future Eagles. It was my first experience in camp as we prepared for a trip to Spain. Unfortunately, I didn’t make the final squad. I was heartbroken and cried because it meant so much to me. My dad comforted me and reminded me that this was only the beginning, telling me that many more opportunities would come. By the grace of Almighty Allah, that trip later did not happen for the team for some reasons, and that moment taught me that setbacks are sometimes part of the process”.

“In 2024, I received another national team call-up, and this time I made the final squad to Morocco. That was a major step forward in my football journey and a sign that my hard work was paying off.”

“In 2025, I was called up again and made the final squad to Algeria. That same year, I also had the opportunity to attend scholarship trials in the United Kingdom, which became another important milestone in my development as a player.”

“In 2026, I was granted a UK visa again for another trial opportunity, showing that my efforts were being recognized. Recently, I was also scouted at the Italian Consulate General U-20 Football Tournament, and now I am preparing for a preseason opportunity in Italy.”

“One of my biggest achievements so far has been earning a call-up to the Nigeria U-17 Golden Eaglets. Representing my country at this level has been a dream come true. During preparations, I played in friendly matches where we won 4-1 and 5-0, while the other match ended in a draw.”

“I was also among the shortlisted players for the U-17 Invitational Tournament in China, where we were scheduled to face Tanzania, Australia, and China. I was among the players who went to the embassy, and my visa was approved. But later, a new list was released and my name was not included. It was a painful moment, and I felt deeply disappointed.”

“I called my dad and told him I would not be traveling with the team. Once again, he reminded me of my first experience in 2023 and encouraged me to stay strong. That gave me the courage to accept it as part of my journey.”

“My dad always tells me to appreciate Almighty Allah for every opportunity, to appreciate myself for how far I have come, and to always maintain good character with coaches and officials because football is full of opportunities, and the table can turn in your favour at any time.”

“This journey has made me stronger, wiser, and more mature as a footballer. I believe my time will come, and I will keep working hard, staying patient, and trusting Allah until I achieve my dreams.”
