My Wife Thinks I Still Sell Clothes Not Knowing I’m A Robber , Says Suspect

It appears that criminal elements operating within Southwest axis have no hiding place following the transformation, which recently took place at IGP-IRT Lagos annex, under the general leadership of DCP Tunde Disu.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that while it is still in the news that the IRT Southwest Annex, led by SP Joel Ugowe, mobilized a crack intelligence team which busted the deadly trans-border armed robbers operating within Nigeria and Niger Republic, another deadly vehicle syndicate has been smashed in Lagos State.

One of the suspects, Chigozie Anene, 29, has been arrested, after his gang members led by one Kaka went to Iba area of Lagos and snatched a Toyota Camry and escaped enroute Ebule Egba to Ogun State were already negotiating for a buyer.

However, while they were negotiating with a buyer, unknown to them, the crack team of IRT has been informed and they swung into action, tracked the gang and arrested Anene in their hide out. The IRT operatives recovered the vehicle while his accomplice, Kaka, escaped and now at large.

The Delta-Sate born Anene has already confessed that he has been snatching tricycles for a long time non-stop before he met Kaka, who introduced him to snatching vehicles before he was arrested.

“I am from Akwaukwu in Delta State and live at 4 Mosalasi Street, off Igando Road in Ikotun. I am married; with my wife and two children. But my wife does not know that I am a robber for the period we have lived as husband and wife.”

On why he ventured into criminality, Anene said, “I was selling clothes at Ajah area before my business partner absconded with my money and traveled abroad and I became stranded. Then i moved to Ikotun area, where I was introduced into this robbery business and my wife still believes I am selling clothes not knowing I am a robber”.

Anene revealed that his wife will be shocked because she travelled to the village for her father’s burial and he decided to go for the operation in order to raise money and join her for the burial.

“I am so disappointed, I have brought shame to myself and family and i wish God would spare my life to live again and change” Anene said.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered Anene will be charged before the Court for armed robbery, which attracts several years of imprisonment after the conclusion of the investigation while efforts were being made to arrest Kaka and other gang members now at large.
