The quiet community of Mpape, Abuja, witnessed an extraordinary moment of hope, transformation, and renewed possibility as the National Association of Seadogs (NAS) Worldwide, Galleon Bay Deck, officially commissioned a landmark educational intervention at LEA Primary School, Mpape, in what stakeholders described as one of the most impactful grassroots philanthropic projects recently executed by a non-governmental organisation in Nigeria.

The ambitious intervention, valued at approximately One Hundred Million Naira, delivered the complete renovation and furnishing of three classroom blocks comprising nine classrooms, rehabilitation and reinstallation of a solar-powered borehole system, and the distribution of 844 school uniforms alongside thousands of educational materials to pupils of the school.

The project, executed in collaboration with strategic development partners and stakeholders, directly addresses years of infrastructural decay, inadequate learning facilities, poor access to clean water, and unconducive learning conditions affecting over 844 pupils within the school and surrounding community.

The colourful commissioning ceremony attracted an array of dignitaries, education administrators, development partners, community leaders, and members of the National Association of Seadogs Worldwide, all gathered to witness what many described as a practical demonstration of transformational leadership and people-centered philanthropy.

The event was filled with excitement and emotion as pupils, visibly overwhelmed with joy, entertained guests through vibrant cultural dance performances, drama presentations, speech renditions, and other artistic displays that reflected gratitude, hope, and renewed confidence in their future.

A major highlight of the event was the formal commissioning of the renovated classroom blocks and rehabilitated facilities by the Capoon of the National Association of Seadogs Worldwide, Dr. Avua Joe Oteri, in partnership with the Director General of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NIBRRI), Professor Samson Duna, who was represented by the Director, Consultancy and Extension Services, Chief Faniel Makava.

The symbolic exercise underscored the power of strategic collaboration in driving sustainable community development and educational advancement.

Speaking during the commissioning, representatives of the various collaborating institutions commended NAS-Galleon Bay Deck for demonstrating uncommon commitment to human capital development and sustainable community impact through education.

They noted that the intervention goes beyond physical infrastructure to restoring dignity, confidence, and opportunity for children who previously learned under extremely difficult conditions.

Also present at the event were the Executive Secretary of the Bwari Local Education Authority, Mr. Tanko Isuwa; the Executive Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Board represented by the Director, Primary School Services, Mallam Jibrin Danlami; as well as top officials, stakeholders, and members of the National Association of Seadogs Worldwide.

In further demonstration of collective social responsibility, the Patient Okoegiri Educational Foundation donated 3,000 branded exercise books, while the International Book Project of the United States provided quality storybooks for senior primary pupils.

In addition, the Dannonmbi Care Foundation, Segun Obayendo Foundation, alongside several zones and individual members of NAS Worldwide, supported the “Kit-a-Child Initiative,” through which 844 school uniforms were donated to pupils.

Beyond the physical structures and materials handed over, the intervention symbolises a powerful investment in the future of Nigerian children and a bold contribution toward the attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals on Quality Education, Clean Water and Sanitation, Good Health and Well-being, Reduced Inequalities, and Partnerships for Development.

The commissioning of the Mpape School Transformation Project stands today not only as a celebration of renovated classrooms and restored facilities, but as a shining example of what visionary partnerships, responsible civic engagement, and purposeful philanthropy can achieve in transforming lives and rebuilding communities.
