The National Innovation Workshop has come and gone but the impact of the two-day workshop on Anambra will be long lasting. One does not need a soothsayer to know that the holding of the event in Anambra state has again put the state on the national map.

Last night, I watched with great excitement the Chairman Senate committee on Science, Technology and Innovation, Senator Uche Ekwunife give her remarks as the event which was graced by the governor of Anambra state, Prof Chukwuma Soludo and the Speaker of the state house of assembly, Rt. Hon Uchenna Okafor, was replayed on Channels Television.

Senator Ekwunife’s love for Anambra has never been in doubt. The federal lawmaker has never hidden her commitment to the development of the light of the nation. Little wonder she was the first Senator in the state to pay courtesy visit to the incumbent governor shortly after he was sworn-in. Ekwunife kept political differences aside to offer support for the Soludo led administration bearing in mind that Soludo’s success is the success of Ndi Anambra.

The National Innovation workshop to me was another opportunity the quintessential lawmaker used to walk her talk at the 9th and 10th Zik Annual lecture, where she trilled the audience by declaring Anambra state, the best state in Nigeria. She said so even to the amazement of the then governor of Ekiti state, John Kayode Fayemi who was the guest speaker. To appease the Ekiti governor, Ekwunife uttered, Anambra leads, Ekiti follows.

As we move into the 2023 general election, Ndi Anambra Central cannot afford to look beyond Senator Ekwunife. Ifekaolaedo as she is also known, is truly something worth more than gold. Ekwunife’s numerous projects and programmes are testimony that she is truly people-driven.

The workshop ended with cash prices awarded to inventors and participating schools, and guess what? The winners were all from Anambra!
