The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), says, it is looking forward to a rewarding 2025 with the focus to implement to the letter all its programmes for the year.

The Vice President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, Babs Ogunade, said that the calendar of activities for 2025 will soon be made public and it’s loaded with big competitions.

“Our focus in the Federation is to tip off these events and programmes and follow it through. In February, we will be in Libya for 2025 FIBA Afrobasket Qualifiers, the build up for it is up and running, the female national team is also there as well as the junior national team.”

“The Federation wants to consolidate on the fine outings of D’Tigress and the Junior D’Tigress at the international scene while we hope to run a comprehensive Men’s Premier League ”

Ogunade, said, “With our hands full with competitions both domestic and foreign, we just have to give it our best shot as the tenor of this current NBBF board ebbs away.”

He further explained that no board member is talking about election or third term for President Engineer Musa Kida. “There is no third term in the NBBF constitution, the constitution is very clear and I’m very close to Musa Kida, he is not thinking of any third term, that I can tell you for free.”

Babs Ogunade, the former Boss of Lagos State Basketball Association, went on to state that the news and article flying around about a third term bid interest by Engineer Musa Kida and the current NBBF board is not a true reflection of the Federation or that of Musa Kida.

“NBBF constitution is very clear, nobody or group of persons can change it without it being amended according to the laid down rules and regulations and all the relevant stakeholders must give the green light for any amendment if need be,” the former captain of the national team said.

The current board Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), was elected on the 31st of January 2022 in Benin City, Edo State. The Board will end its tenure in January 2026.
