Ndigbo Mark Eze John Nwosu Late Younger Brother – Mazi Elochukwu’s Wake Ceremony In Lagos

31st July, 2025, will remain a memorable day for the family of Ezendigbo in Mushin Kingdom, Eze John Nwosu, as Ndigbo marked the wake ceremony of his late younger brother, Late Mazi Elochukwu Nwosu (Ume Odinanwa of Utuh town) in Lagos State. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the ceremony, which took place at Utuh Civic center in FESTAC town, Lagos, was attended by top Igbo leaders, groups, friends and wellwishers including traders from Ladipo Market, where late Elochukwu was plying his trade before he passed on after a brief illness.

 

Top among the dignitaries included the BOT Chairman of Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos State, Dr Jonathan Nnaji, President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, Chief Solomon Aguene,  President of Igbo Speaking Community,  Chief Sunday Udeh, National Coordinator of Ndigbo Media Forum, Rev. Paul Eze,  president of Ladipo Market Central Union, Chief African and market traders from various market in Lagos led by their President General, Chief C.F C Obi.

 

Also present at the event were the traditional rulers a.k.a Ezendigbo across the Local Councils led by Ezendigbo Gburugburu Worldwide, Eze Prosper Chukwuka,  Supreme Council of Ezendigbo Chairman, Eze Lawrence Nnamdi Eze, Eze John Nwosu’s cabinet members -Council of Obi Eziokwu in Mushin and other Ezendigbo across the Local Councils in the State including Ezendigbo in Greenfield Estate in Ago Okota.

 

Equally in attendance were Ambassador Solomon David Eke, Ndigbo in APC led by their Chairman, Chief Chris Ekwilo, Chief Baba Tata including Utuh Town union both men and women wings.

 

The wake ceremony witnessed a powerful display of community spirit and solidarity. The coming together of family and friends to mourn and celebrate the life of the deceased was a testament to the strong bonds of the Igbo culture.

 

The ceremony also highlighted the importance of Igbo tradition and cultural heritage as groups were dressed in traditional attires in the rather sober atmosphere, yet vibrant with music and drumming adding to the emotional intensity of the occasion.

 

The ceremony featured prayers, songs, and eulogies, which were delivered by family members and friends.

The highlight of the ceremony was the display of traditional dances, which were performed by the mourners and displaying of masquerades from Igbo land.

The ceremony is reminder of the importance of community, tradition, and cultural heritage in shaping the Igbo identities and experiences as Ndigbo say goodbye to Mazi Elochukwuu Nwosu.

 

Late Elochukwuu Paulinus Nwosu died 25th April,2025 at the age of 49 after a brief illness and will be buried on 3rd September, 2025, in his village in Utuh town in Anambra State.  He was married with children.
