The National Coordinator of Ndigbo Media Forum, Rev Paul Eze, has called for truce, dialogue and peace among the warring stakeholders in Ohanaeze Ndigbo group in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Rev Eze stated this in Lagos on the heels of the leadership tussle between Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene and Chief Sunday Ossai, which has become subject of Police investigation at FCID Annex in Alagbon, Lagos.
Eze stated that it was time for peace and Ndigbo must know where they are coming from and where they are going and cannot achieve greatness with disunity, infighting and power tussle among themselves.
He explained that the power tussle between Aguene and Ossai has lingered and has divided Ndigbo into different groups, which made unity among Ndigbo more challenging to the detriment of Ndigbo.
He appealed to Chief Aguene and Chief Ossai to make sacrifices in order to restore peace among Ndigbo in Lagos State.
Eze stated, “They should remember posterity; this matter has dragged for so long and we cannot continue to be fighting among ourselves. Therefore, there is need for peace among the Igbo in Lagos State”.
He explained that Ndigbo Media Forum Worldwide has decided to go into the matter in order to make peace between Aguene and Ossai because the fighting is seriously affecting Ndigbo as they are no longer speaking with one voice in the State.
On how the group will achieve the desired peace,  Rev.Eze explained that he will contact some prominent Igbo people to come into the matter to make peace so that Ndigbo will be united in Lagos State.
For the past three years, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has been in crises to the extent that they cannot come together and speak with one voice, which has caused serious division into factions led by Chief Aguene and Chief Ossai.
Chief Aguene had stated that he had a valid Court judgment, which declared him president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State while Chief Sunday Ossai is claiming that Chief Aguene’s tenure had elapsed and another election was conducted, where he (Ossai) emerged as president of the group.
The Police are currently investigating the matter at FCID Annex at Alagbon, Lagos, based on the petition written by Chief Aguene against Ossai for claiming to be Ohanaeze president despite the fact that Aguene has subsisting Court judgment.
