A celebrity club of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, on campaign for a drug free society has paid an advocacy visit and conferred an award on the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, for his efforts in the fight against drug abuse.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the award was conferred on CP Edgal at the Police Command, Lagos, and witnessed the presence of the top police officers, the members of the club comprising the President of The Drug Salvation of Nigeria and coordinator of the group, Mr. Wilson Ighodalo, and top celebrities in the entertainment industry.
Among them were the president of the Directors of Actors Guide of Nigeria, DAGN, Mr. Fred Amata, popular actor, Mr. Victor Osuagwu and other producers and as well as actors well known in Nigeria.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ighodalo said that the essence of forming the club was to give back to the society and having celebrities campaign against drug abuse especially by the youths in the society. He regretted that many youths had become victims of abuse and when they see those celebrities talking to them, they will listen and leave the abuse.
He noted that since Mr. Edgal took over as the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, he had been championing the cause; the club noted his contributions, agreed to honour and encourage him to do more. He told the police boss that the members had being going round across the states campaigning against drug abuse despite their tight schedules because of the danger it posed to the youths and the nation. He assured that they will not relent in their efforts for a drug abuse free society.

In response, CP Edgal thanked the group and noted the effect of drug abuse by the youths which posed serious danger in the society. He said that he had been championing the course because he was aware of the consequences as it was when those drugs were taken that other vices were committed in the society. He promised that he will not relent and will support the group to ensure that the campaign was a success in the greater interest of the society.

The president of DAGN, Mr. Amata, thanked the CP and spoke in the same direction about the effect of drugs abuse in the society. He promised to continue the fight and enjoined other celebrities to join the club as a way of giving back to the society.
Other speakers at the event spoke almost the same thing as veteran actor, Mr. Osuagwu, sought the support of everybody in order to rescue youths who had become victims and find ways of rehabilitating them to become useful in the society.
