The NDLEA Unit Commander in Ikoyi, Lagos, identified as Madam Rita, narrowly escaped lynching by an angry mob over her indiscretion for allegedly attempting to abduct a 9-year old girl over a disagreement with her furniture man, identified as Sunday Victor Etim.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Mechanic Village at Jakande Estate, Ejigbo area of Lagos.
Rita was said to have gone to meet with the furniture man, Sunday Victor Etim, over a job she gave to him, which he was unable to finish at an agreed period.
Thus, when she got to the Etim’s workshop and did not find him, she reportedly dragged the victim, Miss Promise Daniel, into her vehicle to take her away.
The residents, who saw her dragging Promise Daniel into her vehicle,  suspected her to be a kidnapper. They then gathered around her vehicle to mob her and possibly burn her vehicle.
However, she was lucky as she was rescued by Police operatives on routine monitoring as they were about to attack her and the little Promise Daniel was rescued from her. But before the Police would completely calm the situation at the scene, Rita had managed to escape with her vehicle.
Narrating what happened, the furniture man, Etim, told P.M.EXPRESS reporter that Rita gave her a job to do for her and they agreed on a period time for him to finish with it also depending on when she will send the money. He stated that when she eventually made the advance payment for the job, he commenced work but was unable to finish it having spent several days in her house to do the wardrobe.
He explained that he gave Rita his address to come and see what he had already done, which was almost completed and when she came, she did not locate him at his workshop. She then contacted him and he asked her to exercise patience for few minutes for him to come and meet her.
Etim stated that he was shocked when he came back and met people around Rita and they were alleging that she wanted to kidnap the little victim but they resisted her and attempted to attack her before rescue came.
When our correspondent contacted Rita through her phone number, 08023307662, she picked up the call but warned the reporter never to call her number again as she does not want to speak to the reporter.
Meanwhile, the Police at Ejigbo Division were said to have started discrete investigation over what happened to know if actually Madam Rita was a victim of circumstance or had wanted to abduct the little victim.
