A former Super Eagles forward, Raphael Ndukwe Chukwu, has commended the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for extending Gernot Rohr’s contract with the senior national side
Speaking in an interview with Brila.net, he former Bari striker, said the President of the NFF, Amaju Melvin Pinnck, has shown leadership with the extension of Rohr’s contract.
Ndukwe said: “I think what Amaju Pinnick, the NFF boss did is the best for Nigerian football, by renewing his Rohr’s contract. He has worked with a bunch of good players and they have been together for a while, so let them continue in the same way and I think he has done well as far as Nigeria is concerned.
“He qualified for the 2019 AFCON and the 2018 World Cup, so I think what we will do is give him that chance. Your employer will always want you to improve but I think it’s a good idea to give him that contract.”
Ndukwe, born 22 July, 1975, is a Nigerian international footballer who played as a striker.
Chukwu has played professionally in Nigeria, South-Africa, Italy, and Turkey for Enyimba International, Udoji United, Shooting Stars, Mamelodi Sundowns, Bari and Çaykur Rizespor.
He participated at the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations, scoring in the Final against Cameroon, and earned ten senior caps for Nigeria.
In September 2004 he was banned by FIFA for failing his contractual obligations towards Çaykur Rizespor
