The new Lagos State Commission of Police, CP Zubairu Mu’azu, has warned criminals in the state to change or relocate to other states.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Mu’azu gave the warning while meeting with crime reporters in his office, saying that Lagos would be a danger zone to all criminals.
“I am in Lagos to ensure the people here are safe and secure. I say to criminals here to either change to become good citizens or relocate. No place in Lagos is safe for criminals” he said.
He also warned the officers and men of the Command against unprofessional conducts, stressing that the full weight of the law would be meted out to anyone involved in corruption.
The police boss assured Lagosians that he would maintain the success recorded by his immediate predecessor, CP Imohimi Edgal and even improve on it.
Mu’azu said there would be security for all in Lagos before, during and after the general elections, calling on the public to give him same support given to previous CPs in the state.
He said he had a meeting with all Area commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Unit heads, and that strict instructions have been given to them on security during the Presidential rally on Saturday and elections days.
On why his predecessor, CP Imohimin Edgal, was yet to do the official handing over, Mu’azu said Edgal was currently busy in Abuja, hence his absence .
CP Mu’azu was on Wednesday posted to Lagos State Police Command to replace CP Imohimi Edgal, who was yet to be assigned any position.
In a statement by the spokesman for the Command, CSP Chike Oti, CP Zubairu Muazu resumed duty on Friday at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, as the 35th Commissioner of Police in the state.
Mu’azu enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on March 15, 1988, and was trained at the prestigious Nigeria Police Academy, Annex, Kaduna, from March 15, 1988 to August 1989.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a Master of Science degree in Policy and Strategic Management.
CP Mu’azu is a member of the elite Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos.
Other academic qualifications of the CP include a Master degree in International Law and Diplomacy, Postgraduate Certificate in Corruption Studies and Advanced Diploma in Public Administration.
Until his recent posting, he was the Commissioner of Police in charge of Interpol, Force CID Annex, Lagos.
He has also held various command positions such as, Commissioner of Police (Admin) Department of Finance and Administration, Police Force Headquarters, Abuja, Commissioner of Police, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), FHQ, Abuja, Commissioner of Police, Niger and Akwa Ibom states.
“The new CP is bringing with him, wealth of experience garnered over the years of selfless service to the nation.
“He wishes to assure the good people of Lagos State, round-the-clock security.
“He, therefore, seeks the cooperation of all in the fight against crimes and criminality as security is everybody’s business” Oti said.
