The CEO of Buruj Football Club/Academy, Dr. Buruj Waheed Salaudeen, has said that Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi is the best candidate for Presidency of the Nigerian Football Federation because he has the potential and wealth of experience needed to shape things in the Nigerian football system.
Dr. Buruj Waheed Salaudeen, who was on a visit to the NFF Office in Abuja for his players documentation said that Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi is capable of handling the office as he has been in the system with a huge wealth of experience and exposure can tun around things for the better.
He said, “In my view, I’m totally against bringing on board any ex-international. Frankly speaking, I’m not here to condemn any of them but they should take their troll from the bottom line to proof their mettle by contesting for the post of Divisional FA and Regional FA before going to NFF Presidency”.
“The NFF Office is no child’s play. How many of these players can even manage an academy or club before talking of eyeing the NFF administration.
Ex-Internationals need to understand that the office environment is far different from being good on the field of play, it’s about the qualifications, goodwill, doing the right thing at the appropriate time and pace.”
“People talk about Samuel Eto becoming the new Cameroon Football President. He deserves to be there because he has invested a good tone into it. How many Nigerian players has invested in the Nigerian football despite acquiring these wealth from this same area? Let them come out; once they have money they forget their root, even if it’s to donate as little as pure water to their grassroots they don’t see it as priority to stand for the young ones.”
“Giving an ex-international the throne of leadership in the Nigerian Football will only worsen the system and make it more rigid.”
“The only advice I can offer is for them to take one step at a time and start getting involved in the administrative arm by taking up executives post, coaching e.t.c I believe from there they will learn one or two things and see the reality in it. It’s not by bullying past administration, join them to run our football system well and avoid being self-centered. If it’s not your turn, wait for your time as there’s no late comer.”
“Speaking from another angle of who has the passion and genuine love for the game, take a look at Hon. Kunle Shoname, who is not a player, the man has invested a lot to make sure Nigerian Football takes its face globally. How many of our Ex-Internationals can invest in football after benefitting a lot from it through government, corporate bodies and individuals? Is it that their time to pay back has not reached maturity stage? Yet, they are the ones condemning people.”
“Look at ordinary players union, it’s not been organised. How many of them show up not to talk of assisting in organising it? They should stop deceiving Nigerians! They have made money, and they should invest it in football in order to assist the young finest potentials wailing across the country.”
“How many players have they helped? This is a question that needs critical evaluation” Dr. Buruj concluded.
