NFF Orders Rohr…Submit Your Work Plan

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has ordered the manager of the senior national team, the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, to get to work immediately after the team picked the ticket to play in next year African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Finals.

The Eagles held South Africa to a 1-1 draw in Johannesburg in their second to the last group match recently. The result paved way for the Nigerian team to maintain a comfortable lead in their group and securing a ticket to play in the AFCON final even with a game to go.

The NFF during a board meeting held in Asaba, Delta State during the week told the Eagles’ manager that he should leave nothing to chance to ensure that the Eagles have qualitative preparation for the African championship.

The NFF resolved that preparations for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations must start immediately, with the Super Eagles’ technical crew mandated to submit a programme of preparation within a couple of weeks. Available windows for friendly matches before the championship would be fully utilized.

A communiqué after the meeting also “commended the players and officials of the Senior Men National Team, Super Eagles, for Nigeria’s qualification for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations finals with a match in hand, following a 1-1 draw with South Africa in Johannesburg on 17th November 2018. Members praised the heartwarming support and encouragement of the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR and the Federal Government at large, to all the National Teams, the Nigeria Football Federation and Nigerian Football generally.”
