The Para-Powerlifting Federation of Nigeria had expressed its sadness over the death of Nigerian Powerlifters, Paul Kehinde who died in Lagos on Thursday November 18, 2021.
The Epe, Lagos State-born Kehinde until his death, was four-time world champion. He competed in the men’s 65 kg class and also occasionally in the 72 kg class
President of the Nigeria Para-Powerlifting Federation, Ruel Ishaku who disclosed this to newsmen said Late Kehinde was indeed a great ambassador of this country and the Powerlifting and indeed the entire Paralympic family are going to miss him.
Ruel however urged the sporting world to disregard a recent statement credited to impeached former president of Para-Powerlifting, Mrs. Queen Uboh claiming that late Kehinde was not given a beffting burial as cheap blackmail coming from a disgruntled fellow.
According to him, the late world champion died on Nov 18 and was buried on Nov 19, 2021being the following day and the Sports ministry sent a delegation led by Secretary General of the Federation, mr. Peter Njoku which include other board members to the burial .
Ruel described Queen as not only a confusionist but drowning person looking for something to hang onto.
Meanwhile, President of the Paralympic Committee Nigeria Brig. Gen Emico Eruwa has equally expressed shock on the death of the Nigerian lifter, stating that the PCN family will continue to miss him.
