John Utaka Foundation Football team made history in far away Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria when they lynched Liberia with four unreplied goals in the final of SATUC World Cup to win the tournament for the first time.
The 5 – Aside Under 16 total for under privileged children saw Nigeria showing strong intent to win the tournament from the first game they played against Syria which ended 7-1 with Mohammed Salau Abidemi scoring a hattrick. The team also unleashed a 4-2 defeat on Morocco to top the group that comprised of just three teams.
Cameroon kissed the dust as they were completely destroyed 7-0 in the quarter final with Hussaini Arafat Usman scoring four goals . Bulgaria , the host of the tournament gave the team the stiffest opposition before they crumbled to 1-0 lost courtesy of Hussaini’s goal in the first half of the extra time.
Nigeria’s Hussaini also won the Most Valuable Player MVP of the tournament. This is the second edition of the tournament and John Utaka Foundation Football team won the trophy at its first appearance in the tournament.
