Nigeria’s foremost players union, the National Association of Nigerian Professional Footballers ( NANPF), has sent a Save- Our- Souls (SOS) appeal to the Federation of International Football Association ( FIFA), on behalf of over 200 Nigerian female and male footbalIers who are financially distressed due to unpaid salaries and allowances by their different football clubs.
Sources close to the secretariat of NANPF, disclosed that the players union are bent on ensuring that the Nigerian players owed varying amounts by their clubs deserve to benefit from the relief funds made available by FIFA and distributed by the world players’ union, FifPro.
While lamenting that the level of anguish and pains facing these players is unbearable, the players union, through its solicitors Bode-Kehinde &Co have therefore written and submitted the list of the distressed players to FIFA via FifPro for the relief packages.
It would be recalled that these players are owed sums of money in excess of over N400 million.
