Minister of Youth and Sports Development Mr Sunday Dare expressed delight that the event eventually took place despite all the challenges occasioned by the covid-19 lockdown which led to the cancellation of many sports events.

He equally expressed satisfaction with the high standard, discipline and commitment exhibited by the athletes in line with laid down rules and regulations.

He further said the event was a good prelude to the National Sports Festival (NSF) scheduled to take place in Benin from February 14th – 28th.

According to the Director of Grassroots Development in the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development Dr. Ademola Are, “The OSOM GAMES was strategically designed by the Ministry in collaboration with the Military and paramilitary after the 2012 London Olympics Games to spur grassroots sports Development. We are happy that we are achieving the vision of discovering hidden talents for future podium success for the country.”

Over 740 athletes were registered for 15 events which took place over a four day period in various venues in Abuja.
