Lovers of boxing were treated to explosive delights in the ring on Sunday as Nigerian pugilists had it good over their foreign opponents in the boxing championship held in Ibadan, capital city of Oyo State, southwest Nigeria.
Holding at Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resorts, the night saw Nigerian Ridwan Oyekola, fondly called Scorpion, winning the World Boxing Federation (WBF) International Featherweight tile fight beating Argentine pugilist, Lucas Matias Mantesino in an unanimous decision of 97 to 87 points.
Olaide Fijabi of Nigeria retained the three belts on his hand after he defeated Moses Dodzi of Ghana in a light welterweight fight, while Nigeria’s Sadiku Akeem Dodo TKO John Kuffour from Ivory coast in the fifth round of their international super middleweight challenge.
In other fights, Taiwo Olanrewaju knocked out Abdullah Adesokan within 47 seconds of their bout. Ridwan Lawal also knocked out Dare Oyewole in the second round of their fight. Ayobamiji Azeez claimed victory over Moses Samuel Apata through unanimous judges’, while a fourth round TKO gave Abeeb Ige victory over Aliu Akintayo.
The female bout was won by Blessing Godwin who defeated Adeola Olalere through TKO.
