The Standing Committee of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE, has announced the 4th Lateef Jakande Memorial Lecture, scheduled to hold on Wednesday, July 23, 2026.
The lecture will take place at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, starting at 9:00am.
The theme of this year’s lecture is “The Media, INEC, Voters and Path to Credible Elections.”
The Chairman of the event is Dr. Kayode Fayemi, former Governor of Ekiti State.
The Guest Lecturer is Prof. Sylvester Odion-Akhaine of the Department of Political Science, Lagos State University.
His Excellency, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, will attend as the Special Guest of Honour.
The Lateef Jakande Memorial Lecture series was instituted by the Nigerian Guild of Editors to honour the legacy of Alhaji Lateef Jakande, the pioneer President of the Guild and the first civilian governor of Lagos State (1979–1983).
The annual lecture brings together media professionals, policymakers, academics, and stakeholders to discuss issues central to democracy, governance, and the media in Nigeria.
