Nigerian Players Union Mourns Ex-Akwa United Keeper

The National Association of Professional Footballers (NANPF), has announced with deep sorrow, its regrets over the death of former FC Taraba and Akwa United goal keeper, Ismaila Shagari.
The top rated, tall and agile goalkeeper, died after a brief illness and has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
In a statement released by the communications department of the union and on behalf of its president, Tijani Babangida,MON, it described the death of Shagari, as a painful and unfortunate loss to the football community.
It prayed that God should grant him peaceful rest. And also strengthen the family and friends he left behind with the fortitude to bear the loss.
Meanwhile, the union is set to pay a condolence visit to the family home of the deceased footballer, later this week.
